HEALING OURSELVES – HEALING THE WORLD

Retreat with Thich Nhat Hanh, Plum Village Seniors Dharma Teachers (with or without Thich Nhat Hanh depending on his health), the monks and nuns of the EIAB and Plum Village

Healing begins with us. Before we can help other living beings we have to be in a position to help ourselves.  When we take loving and mindful care of ourselves, we can heal the wounds in our bodies and minds.

We can only be there for our family, society, for mother earth and all living beings when we are truly present for ourselves, when we live fully in the present moment. Interbeing describes our relationship to the world,  a world in which everything exists in mutual interdependence.

Alone we cannot heal. This insight helps us to understand that we are not separate from one another, and to feel a sense of oneness with all forms of life. This insight into the nature of interbeing can help us to act for our own benefit and the benefit of all living beings.

TOUCHING THE WONDERS OF LIFE

Retreat with Thich Nhat Hanh, Plum Village Seniors Dharma Teachers (with or without Thich Nhat Hanh depending on his health), the monks and nuns of the EIAB and Plum Village

Often we are so absorbed by our thoughts and feelings that we are barely able to perceive what is going on around us. And when we are caught up in negative feelings such as fear, anger and desperation, it seems as though nothing else exists: we become imprisoned by our own thoughts. Most of the time we just want to get rid of these unpleasant thoughts and feelings. However, it is not until we can observe them mindfully, and lovingly accept them, that they will open the way to the inner peace we long for.

Through our practice of mindfulness we create a secure and safe inner space in which we can take refuge. And in this stillness an awareness of the complete uniqueness of life with all its wonders becomes available to us.
